WebApr 12, 2024 · So I've had my truck back for a little over a month now and noticed my dust boots on my new 5100's (front) have slid down the shock shaft. The shaft is now exposed and I can wiggle the boot back up to the top (where it was when I bought them) but no idea how it's suppose to stay up there. Anyone know about this issue I'm having? WebNov 28, 2008 · It really doesn't matter, it will still do its job whether the boot is facing up or down. Depending on the shock. Many times rebound is slower than the compresion dampening, so if the shock is fliped, for compresion, you now have the rebound dampening trying to control the spring. Its better to mount them propperly. Just my $0.02

I've also been thinking of maybe going for the 6112 & 5160 setup but the cost savings are pretty enticing.
