And the buyer may not find out right away. Unfortunately, a serial number may be blocked or revoked at some point later when re-activating or reinstalling Adobe software in the future. WebI'm unaware of any risks to the owner directly, but of course the serial number is a unique number that identifies that particular Mac. Fraudsters are very creative, and it's possible that they could find ways to use the serial, either by pretending to be the owner (e.g. selling a Mac they don't have); or by pretending to be Apple.
