WebDec 16, 2008 · #1 I find the flaming sphere to be quite challenging as DM, when my players use it. So far, I've found only three strategies that work: 1) ignore it, and live with the damage 2) move the monsters so PC's are hopefully affected as well when the wizards wants to move the sphere 3) go after the wizard and kill him, which would end the sphere WebFlaming Sphere and Reach Spell Yesterday we dinged lvl 3 in our Extinction Curse run so I'm digging the lvl 2 spells. I noticed that in 2e Flaming Sphere doesn't have a land speed. You can simply move it to what square within range. The range is 30 feet so you can basically put it in any square withing 30 feet of you.
