WebPupils will learn phonics Phase 3 at around 4-5 years old in their reception year of school. Phase 3 takes most children around 12 weeks to learn and is taught after children have been introduced to Phase 2 at the start of reception. By the end of Phase 3, children should be able to say the sound made by most of the Phase 2 and 3 graphemes.
